A sunny afternoon at Wollaton Park...

It is so nice to take random days off from work, and it is even better when you make last minute plans with a friend. I took last Friday off work, and what a great day to take off! With temperature's over 20 degrees (that is pretty hot for the UK!) I thought it would be a great idea to take a bus to Wollaton Park, some of you may recognise it from the recent Batman film.. (I've not seen that yet....). I have been coming here ever since I was a kid, but have come more recently over the past few years. It is such a nice place to visit and have a picnic on a sunny day, looking over the grass and at the hall. It is so grand that it takes your breath away as you approach it.

The ground is kept up really well, despite the odd (or a few more) deer droppings! The garden behind the hall is beautiful, and the flowers are the prettiest. We spent a few hours here, checking out the grounds as well as going inside the hall, full of history, and a small Natural History Museum too, if you love Taxidermy I recommend that you go inside, it is free entry but you can donate a little to keep them running :)

If you are ever in Nottingham, it is just a short bus ride to Wollaton from the city centre. The perfect place to go if you have young children too, and great for those photographers out there.

Do you live near a stately home? - Do let me know in the comments I'd love to take a visit.
